Pelosi Visits Zelensky: US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other lawmakers paid a surprise visit to Ukraine in a show of support for that country’s continuing struggle to defend itself from the Russian military invasion. The American delegation met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on April 30 in Kyiv.
Russia Says Ukraine Shelled Its Own People: Moscow alleges Ukrainian forces shelled civilians in the Kherson region. Russia’s RIA news agency reported on May 1 that civilian targets including a cemetery, a school, and a kindergarten were shelled. The accusation has not been verified by sources on the ground.
