It all started with two governors on the border who took action to protect the lives of their citizenry and relieve the burden of the illegal immigrant crush. Govs. Ron DeSantis of Florida and Greg Abbott of Texas loaded up buses and shipped aliens to sanctuary cities where the stragglers would reportedly be welcomed with plentiful resources. As it turned out, the blue bastions went a bit berserk. They really didn’t want any part of the crisis they asked for.
New York City’s Mayor Eric Adams has renewed his sputtering outrage, wondering why the two states below can’t handle the influx. The elitist of all East Coast neighborhoods, Martha’s Vineyard, could not cope with caring for 50 undocumented and technically unknown folks for more than 24 hours. Those poor souls were shipped away by ferry on day two. So much for liberal love.
But why? As Liberty Nation’s Managing Editor Mark Angelides recently reminded, “The city that never sleeps once billed itself as a place that welcomed all comers – indeed, it is even written on a statue in the harbor.” What those governors along the border already know, with illegal immigration comes a hefty bill to pay in increasing crime rates, which is why Adams is spitting mad.
Illegal Immigrant — In More Ways Than One
It might hurt a hopeful migrant’s feelings, but crossing the border without proper processing is illegal. Granted, most immigrants are seeking a better life. But others are human trafficking, drug running, and wreaking havoc on the American Way.
One illegal immigrant who has infiltrated NYC and Times Square Row House is Venezuelan Daniel Hernandez Martinez, who counts among the sanctuary city’s newest relocation projects. In the two months he has been in town, Martinez has committed 14 crimes and been arrested and released on six occasions. He was caught stealing from Costco; he smacked an independent journalist who had interviewed him upside his head with a bike tire; he grabbed a woman by the hair, dragged her, broke her phone, and issued a few swift kicks as she lay on the pavement. He was charged with menacing and released with a scolding. You see, his charges are not bail-eligible until he attacks a cop.
He finally was sent off to Riker’s Island, where some do-gooder organization would easily bail him out for a $ 5,000 fee. But he isn’t the only problem illegal immigrant.
As one current officer told The New York Post, on the promise of anonymity:
“This is not an isolated incident. These migrants are getting arrested quite often here, and we really don’t know who they are. They really don’t have ID. They’re not being vetted properly, but some of them are committing some of the most violent crimes here.”
Adams is starting to understand the frustrations suffered by those who live in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Florida.
Lest We Forget, as Adams Whines
Illegal immigrant crime is not limited to large sanctuary cities: It spreads like a pandemic across the country if nothing tries to stop it. Mollie Tibbetts: A smart, compassionate, lovely University of Iowa student was abducted, brutally assaulted, and murdered by illegal immigrant Cristhian Bahena Rivera in 2018.

In 2022, Jean R. Macean, an illegal immigrant, murdered Terry and Brenda Aultman during Bike Week in Daytona Beach. Macean had previously been arrested in Florida’s Orange County. However, under former Democratic State Attorney Aramis Ayala, the charges were inexplicably dropped. But Gov. DeSantis made sure Macean was held responsible.
And remember Kate Steinle: Murdered in 2015 in San Francisco by Jose Inez Garcia-Zarate — a five-times-deported Mexican national?
But take the word of former law enforcement officer Ron Martinell, a Spanish-speaking, Latin community infiltrator, and nationally renowned forensic criminologist and law enforcement expert. He’s had it right all along: “According to research and statistics by the U.S. Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, U.S. taxpayers are footing an annual bill of nearly $19 million a day to house and care for an estimated 300,000 to 450,000 convicted criminal immigrants who are eligible for deportation and are currently residing in local jails and state and federal prisons across the country.”
As the Heritage Foundation recently reported:
“In 2023 alone, Border Patrol agents have encountered thousands of illegal aliens with prior criminal convictions, including assault, rape, and murder. The true extent of crimes committed by illegal aliens remains unknown because there are also over 1.5 million unaccounted for ‘gotaways’ since Biden’s term began.”
Chilling.
Adams Gets a Taste
Adams is getting a taste of his own braggadocio and undeliverable promises. Now he’s a desperate man who once welcomed illegal immigrants — to Texas and Arizona — without missing a sound bite. Oops. He blames conservatives for making him share the responsibility, the Biden administration for pursuing a global agenda and not one that favors America, and Congress for not getting along enough to pass better immigration laws and policies. Seems like he doesn’t perceive the irony in his sanctuary city under siege.
