Even before Joe Biden announced in July of 2024 that he would not seek a second White House term, some people were already wondering if the then-chief executive was really in charge. Though elected Democrats and their allies in the establishment media were mostly still claiming Biden was healthy, vigorous, and “sharp as a tack,” it was becoming obvious that all was not well with the nation’s leader. Now, as the Daily Caller exclusively reported on March 5, one state attorney general wants the Justice Department (DOJ) to get to the bottom of who – if not Biden himself – was making the decisions at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in the days before Donald Trump took over.
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey wrote a letter to Michael E. Horowitz, the inspector general for the Justice Department, requesting him to “conduct a full investigation into President Biden’s mental capacity in his final days in office.”
Bailey’s primary concern, as he states in his letter, is that, shortly before leaving office, Biden granted a great many pardons or commutations for violent criminals, including “several convicted murderers who committed their crimes in Missouri.” States can file criminal charges against someone even if the individual has already been prosecuted at the federal level. However, a pardon is a pardon. The Missouri AG wants to know whether the former president knowingly granted these pardons. “If in fact Biden’s staffers were exploiting his mental decline, those orders are null and void,” he explained.
The Justice Department and a Can of Worms
Potentially, this opens up a very big can of worms for those staffers and former White House aides, assuming the DOJ’s inspector general doesn’t decline to follow up. How many policy decisions might have been made in Joe Biden’s name but not by the then-president himself? Bailey details one incident where Biden apparently was unaware of what he had signed:
“In January 2024, when [House Speaker Mike] Johnson asked Biden about a moratorium on energy exports to Europe, Biden informed Johnson that he thought he had merely signed an order authorizing a study on exports.”
The letter to Horowitz also notes that White House staffers restricted access to their boss. “Staff limited Biden’s ability to speak with others and limited the sources of information he consumed.” Bailey cites “Democratic lawmakers, donors and aides who worked for Biden and other administrations” who confirmed this tight ring around the president.
“There are profound reasons to suspect that Biden’s staff and political allies exploited his mental decline to issue purported presidential orders without his knowing approval,” Bailey wrote to the Justice Department. The AG also recounts one occasion when former Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and then-Vice President Kamala Harris attempted to prevent Speaker Johnson from meeting with Biden.
Was There Ever a President Biden?
One former top Democratic Party bundler (fundraiser), who became disenchanted with the party after raising huge sums of money for Harris’ presidential campaign with assurances that victory was a sure thing, has been going public with allegations that match what Bailey suspects. Lindy Li, who was close to the Biden family, maintains that Joe’s cognitive decline was known to his inner circle from the earliest days of his presidency.
Li further claims that Biden’s son, Hunter, effectively took over at the White House soon after his father’s disastrous debate performance against his Republican opponent, Trump. According to Li, Hunter, who had no security clearance, sat in on all meetings and even vetted what sensitive information got through to the president.
More broadly, Li claims that Joe Biden was never really in charge and that his aides and senior advisors ran the show for practically the entire four years.
AG Bailey raises concerns about “the streak of extraordinarily far-left orders purportedly issued by Biden” just from November 2024 until the end of his term. Those included vacating the death penalty sentences for almost every prisoner awaiting execution and Biden’s bizarre proclamation that the Equal Rights Amendment was now officially part of the Constitution. There were also another 2,500 pardons or commutations. Then, of course, there is the matter of Hunter Biden’s extraordinary ten-year blanket pardon. As Bailey pointed out, Joe Biden had previously asserted there would be no pardon for his son.
The AG claims that “an ocean of other far-left orders that Biden purportedly issued – but didn’t support before his mental decline – strongly suggest exploitation by staffers and officials who wanted to promulgate far-left policies without any accountability or democratic legitimacy.”
Should the Justice Department delve into this and discover that Bailey is indeed onto something, the implications are staggering. In theory, just about everything that came out of the White House during Joe Biden’s single presidential term could potentially be challenged as illegitimate. Is this only a Justice Department decision now that the cat’s out of the bag, so to speak? Will Congressional Republicans determine that hearings and perhaps even subpoenas are necessary to uncover the truth?
Could it turn out that Bailey’s suspicions and Li’s and others’ allegations are more than mere unfounded suppositions? If so, a battered, bruised, and bitter Democratic Party might be facing a further setback to its agenda – and perhaps to its very future, as almost the entire Biden presidency unravels before the eyes of the voting public.
