Former-President Donald Trump announced his Mar-a-Lago home had been raided by the FBI Monday. It is unclear why the bureau occupied the property, as his Truth Social post – the only source for the news so far – didn’t specify. Mr. Trump did, however, imply there were no legitimate reasons. “After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” the former president stated. “It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024, especially based on recent polls, and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections.”
Mr. Trump was reportedly in New York at the time of the alleged operation, not on site. According to the Miami Herald, the White House did not know of any FBI actions against the former president and were directing inquiries to the DOJ. At present, neither the DOJ nor the FBI have commented.
